Today we visited the War memorial at Unsworth Pole. We looked very carefully at the memorial and noticed that it had a sword, a wreath and a cross carved out of stone at the top.

Around the sides were the names of all the men from Unsworth that died in the Great War (World War I)

We looked at the wreaths that had been laid around the bottom. These are some of the people that put them there-

  • The Police
  • The Scouts
  • The Federation of Jewish service men and women
  • The local MP Christian Wakeford (He recently visited our school too!)

Then Sarina put on a Magen Dovid poppy from Y1, and Yaakov put on one from Y2.

Before we left, we all collected a leaf that had fallen from the cherry tree in the memorial garden. When we got back to class, we wrote “I will remember them” on our leaf.
