Computing – Year 1 and Year 2
In computing Year 1 and 2 have been making our own pictures using the Paint program. We inserted shapes and then coloured them in with the fill tool. Finally, we added the last details using a paint brush tool.
Year 1 and 2 have also begun to learn how to write an email to our friends. We logged into Purple Mash and selected computing and then email.
First, we had to type our friend’s email address into the address bar.
Then we wrote a title.
Next, we wrote a message and some of us even attached a picture that we had drawn on the computer.
Finally, we pressed the send button and the email went to our friend’s inbox.
Year 1 & Year 2 – PSHE – Jealousy
In PSHE, Year 1 & Year 2 discussed the feeling of jealousy. We watched a video story and talked about a powerpoint that our teachers showed us. Interestingly, we learned that William Shakespeare called jealously ‘the green-eyed monster.’
Jealousy can make you feel angry, sad, furious, upset and mean
We acted out different scenarios in which we might be jealous, for example if it was our sister’s birthday and they had got a lot of presents or if our baby brother sat on our mummy’s knee.
We said that it is important to learn to try and control our feelings and be happy for our friends, not be jealous of us them.
Then we all drew a green-eyed monsters and wrote about how it made us feel. Some of us also made green-eyed monsters from salt dough!
L.O. To begin to understand the British Value of Tolerence.
Today we have been learning all about tolerance in PSHE. Our school councillors asked that we look at the British value and discuss it. First, we watched a Ted talk by a boy called Coby XXX who liked wearing different coloured socks!! He told us that it was good to be tolerant with people who were different like his Mum’s friend Steven.
Then we watched read an ebook about tolerance. It told us that people are all different they have different likes and dislikes, they eat different food and they follow different religions. People can look different too, some have light skin and some have dark skin, some people have birthmarks or freckles, some people use wheel chairs or they can’t hear properly.
We also had lots of fun learning the Mr Stanley song about tolerence.
Whatever people are like it does not matter as long as we are friends and we are tolerent.
Computing and PSHE
This week Year 1 and Year 2 have been learning to use Microsoft word. We teamed up with a partner to write sentences about how we keep our bodies healthy! We have been reading Oliver’s Vegetables at the moment and learning all about healthy eating in PSHE so we knew what to write! Well done !
Year 2-History – War and Remembrance
Year 2 are really enjoying their current topic at the moment- War and Remembrance. Here they are being hot seated as WW1 soldiers from the trenches.
One of the questions that they asked was
” How does it feel living in the trenches”
Willow replied “I hate it, I miss my family and all of the rats keep eating my clothes. The food is rubbish too!”
I’m so proud of all that they have learn so far this term and their enthusiasm shown!
Keep up the great work guys!
Year 2 Art!
Year two have had a wonderful day today learning about different artist!
Today we have been looking at the Artist Piet Mondrian- Colour Chaos. We learnt about him and his life in the Netherlands. We then looked at the kind of abstract Art he created using primary colours. Year two did some fantastic work practising the techniques that he used. Then they before finally finishing their own piece of work.
Here are some photos of us learning about Piet Mondrain, as you can see- they have done some amazing work!
Well done Year 2!
Thank you to everyone who sent a flag to capture all your feelings about school. They are absolutely brilliant!!
The flags have now been put together (as you can see below) and we have also made them the banner for our Facebook page.
When we get back to school, we will print them out and display them around school. Thank you again, we LOVED seeing them!
